OMG!OMG!OMG!
GUESS WHAT?

I FOUND OUR SINGAPORE TOWN VIDEO…on YOUTUBE!

I got damn shock okay…my heart is still beating soo damn fast and my feet are still shaking.
I was browsing through youtube and searching Singapore town just for fun and there was the video.OMG! and it is viewed 27 times already.But no hongdou…so..thank god.

so..try to digest the fact that the whole world can see our dancing.but we should be proud, our dancing ain't that bad, in fact, it's quite good XD.hehe.brings back memories of those days.

Heya guys!!

The Os are officially over! Soo nice!-can finally relax you know but there will be the results to be scared about soo…I think I will worry about that later.

Well..it’s been about 4 months since DREAMS 5 ended, how time flies eh? It seems not so long ago that we were having our first meeting at SSA and look at us now. Was reading our old posts yesterday night and they always makes me laugh, especially the “dreams 5? Does the name ring a bell? Not, it’s definitely not jingle bells”.HAHA.soo funny.Anyway, I hope we can have a reunion soon la(even though it’s really really hard considering everyone’s schedules)and keep in contact with each other.

I read in a book called “the 5 people you meet in heaven” that an experience like war can bring men together like magnet but like a magnet it could repel them too. And, I really don’t want that to happen to us too cos I believe that this experience had been pretty intense(but not as intense as war la) to bring us together and there is also the chance of being repelled too. I’ve reflected back on “impact night” quite a number of times already and I’ve come to this conclusion, that it was the night to show everyone that we all are really are humans, complete with vulnerabilities and that night, we peeled off a layer of “armour” to show ourselves and that was really touching.

Injections! I think we are suppose to take our 2nd shot now for 1 of the shots cos I remember the nurse saying that we must take the 2nd one 6 months after we did our first and well, it had already been 6 months(from May till now).Oh ya, congrats Sionghui for getting into 3A, miaomiao for getting into 3F(A maths,not bad arh =) ), and can you believe it, Gatsby boy and Lianyi for getting into 3E(wow! Same patrol, same class!)!

Lastly, I can’t wait for the barbeque! It will be held at East Coast on the 22nd dec, everyone must come,kay?

This will be my last post, before the prelims and the Os.haha. The next time you guys will see me appearing again will be in November =D. The blog’s is quite dead, somebody, revive it! Anyway, how’s everyone coping with school and everything? All your sunburnt and mosquito bites healed already? It’s been too long since I got a chance to catch with anyone of you guys cos from now till late October, it’s mugging period for dennis,addie and me. Presentation…miaomiao, I need your help! Gatsby boy, reply my e-mail asap, thanx!

2 months le…still missing you guys and doing the presentation brings back memories too. Speaking of which, when isit? Putting our feelings into the slideshow will be tough, so, Gatsby boy wants us to go onstage that day and tell the school our reflections, okay with you guys right? Since we went through soo many presentations already…HAHA.It will be a no biggie. =D

The final DREAMS 5 meeting tomorrow, round 2. Haha. Will it be as emo as the last time? Will the floodgates finally open? We will have to wait and see =D. Anyway, it will be cool 3-4 hours la. Haha..leaders..if we want to attend it again…can we? The more the merrier and also different people so will have a different environment. =D. oh, to catch up also, cos in school, really busy….no time to really talk..so everyone could catch up when we are there. Haha..let me think, what else. It’s Friday! And at 7pm! So, I don’t think we have many activities at that time, might as well attend the meeting. Oh, also, we came in as 12, shouldn’t we come out as 12? Bring a total closure to the whole thing. Even though we already know what to expect, but you guys always have surprises, so either way we will have a emo attack anyway.HAHAHA. Also, it’s very rare that we have this kinda thing anymore, might as well take this chance to do a mini get together. It will be December before we have something like this…so..it’s very precious la.
Another thing…Lester’s video and music selection and captions are very very nice. Haha. And we wanna watch it again, relieve all those songs and memories. Haha. I also want to know what Lester is saying, cos the other time too emo to absorb and really listen to what he said. So, this time we will do just that. Also, I want to support the absentees, 5 people too lonely, need more to warm up the room. =D
Last reason…I am still missing DREAMS 5.

Was reading thru the older posts when I came across Lester’s blog on the qn “Now from a SERVICE angle, why is there a NEED for us to go PBP & do all tat we are doing & planning?”

Hmm.. I tink this is a qn long overdued & none of the participants & leaders had answered.. Let me try writing down my views..

To me, Service & Learning are both part of improvements to our “heart-ware”.. In our eastern family upbringings, we were often taught “shi bi shou, gen you fu”(mandarin).. Tat’s y when we “take”(in the form of learning), we should also “gif”(in the form of service) to make ourselves more complete.. At least tat was part of my family teachings (partly also due to me being very Chi-na)..

Here’s an example.. When u are teaching a fellow classmate a subject, u haf subconsciously reinforced the subject topics in your brain.. So, this tells u tat when u give, u might take back more..

This is the belief tat I hold close to my heart & the very reason tat motivates me to do things even at the expense of my own free time..

I’ve gonna to crap here cos I have no idea what to write, really. Well, the expedition is coming to a close ( it is that close?) and the goodbyes will be inevitable. If Saturday is going to be our last meeting, I think someone can put a slideshow of pictures, our moments in that short 9 days complete with any sappy music(Friends Forever(Graduation)?) and the waterworks will come. Even though we will be reunited during the chalet in the November/December holidays, we will have to wait months before we start all that crapping and lame-ing around again.

To be part of this expedition, I feel, it’s an honor because out of what, 1200 pupils in the school, only the 12 of us went on this expedition. I can’t tell you guys how many things I will miss because I will miss a lot of things. It took me around 3 weeks to fully digest what I went through in 9 days or rather the past 4 months. But, also, I kept thinking about it because I don’t want to lose that memory that I had which is so special in many ways.

Yoz.. I'm back by popular demand!! Haha.. I'm here to redress my grievence.. (did i spell correctly?) Who says I never blog, only tag?? Argh!! I blogged more than the other leaders k.. (except Lester) Hmm.. Back to the topic.. I was chatting wif Putri on the phone last nite for quite long, asking her abt the dialogue session wif Mrs Lim (Principal).. Turned out Mrs Lim talked more than the other 12 participants.. Haha.. But I'm sure some points were put across.. Stuffs like the probability of Dreams 6 and the enthusiasm you all have shown to prove that Dreams 5 had been a success to our best ability.. I'm sure Mrs Lim would have sensed that power in you ppl & hopefully Dreams 6 would be put across.. (fingers crossed) Well, Putri also told me that Dennis & herself had been asked by their teacher to give a brief presentation on Dreams 5 to the whole class.. Imagine how Dennis & Putri (like all others) would have that heart-felt smile on their face as they recount the many experiences they've gained during the trip.. Life has its many twists, and Dreams 5 is one of them.. It led me to each of you and had my life changed in the most amazing way.. We had all been strangers & now superglue bonded friends.. Age is never a limit.. 6 years ago, Mr Gana was just my Sec 2 teacher.. Now, he is a friend and a role model.. 4 years ago, the dream of getting MFScouts & MFGG closely bonded seemed like an impossible dream to me.. Now, we can all dance hongdou without practice.. All these touched my heart.. Just an hour ago, Putri sent me a sms saying that the 4 gals should take a grp photo this coming sat during St Gab Campfire..

With all these, I have a good news for you guys.. I'll be booking a chalet for Dreams 5 @ the end of the year.. Where & when I haven decide yet.. Pls discuss here in this blog.. Activities I'll leave to you ppl to plan.. Fair enuf?? (*,*) Tat's abt all.. Dun say I nv blog horz..

Haha. Addie said everything that I already wanted to say so I will tell u guys about the aftermath.

When we were doing the Hongdou dance yesterday, I felt like we never left PBP cos everyone was giving their best during that performance and we all knew what to do (without practicing beforehand, mind you!). Our rapport there confirmed with me that what we all had at PBP isn’t a fake one or we all are still in tune with each other. But Byran and Wilfred will know the “hao xin fu!” part the best.haha!!

It’s funny, after this expedition, the moment I came home, my mum asked me why am I soo dark and I remember during the recent speech day rehearsal that 3 of us were scratching our legs like nobody’s business. Also, people were asking us stories about the trip. I think we gladly told them =D. But too much happened in those 9 days and we had a hard time selecting stories that won’t scare them too much.As Addie said, we had a little get together at the GGS carnival and it was really very funny. Cos I wanted to dedicate a song at the song booth and guess who I bumped into there? Andreas! And we were dedicating the same song(Friends forever-graduation)to the same people(dreamers-you guys) at the same time! Afterwards, Andreas was suaning Lianyi, Addie and me like crazy, about us not waking up on time on the last day even though all of us had set the alarm the night before and for us sleeping through a heavy downpour at night(7th night, I think) and not even noticing it happened. Andreas, we will suan zhang with you during the st.gabs campfire cos we will all be there =D.

If there is a time machine, I would want to go back to those 9 days cos I want to relieve everything that had happened again but then again, a time machine doesn’t exist so I will have to make do with closing my eyes and thinking that if I close my eyes hard enough, the memories will at least have some sound in it. I sound kinda stupid,right? The girls that I went with, I was never really close to, I would admit to that but after the trip, the 4 of us could just sit down and crap till dawn. I am talking with Addie now and she said cos of the hardships + other stuff that we went through. I am still amazed though of how easily I can talk with them now.

To me, dreams 5 is like Disneyland, except a little bit harder but there is the same amount of fun and magic in the air.

DREAMS 5.. doesnt that name ring a bell? it sounds sooooo familiar.. hahahaha! ok this is so crappy man (:
it seriously feels like a dream ok, cos 9 days passed in the blink of an eye. and as the saying goes, time flies when you're enjoying it. it's always the case isnt it, firstly you'll regret deeply signing up for Dreams 5 when you experience the terrible living conditions over in Belakang Padang, when you need to slog your life out doing constructions, when you need to sacrifice your voice and shoes doing teaching and grocery shopping, when you realise that there are people whom you cant get along with.. then, when you have gotten the full blast of it, when the trip is nearing to a close, you learn how to love what you do, and you make it into a 'do what i love' kind of thing. and it's only then you wished you cherished the past few days and had put in your all in doing the activities.. agreed?
ahhh, it's understandable, and that's what i've been doing for the past 3 years of level camps. but no i didnt do it this time around. why? cos i've learnt how to cherish every moment i go through and jz doing everything, knowing i've achieved my personal best. but of course, there are still things that can be done with better results ............
all i can say is that, the mozzie bites (or was it sandflies stings?) were definitely worth it. what with the experience you take back, those things on my legs are nothing. chinhow thinks i've got some nice decoration on my legs. sense his sarcasm though, hahhah! for everything you do, you gain that little bit more of knowledge, virtue, principal, experience, wisdom. how nice (: i doubt you can get that kind of deal anywhere else.. even though there may be tons of other chances to go on overseas service-learning trips, but each and every trip is different. in their own way.
uniqueness, it's in everything. no two people are the same. for this, i thank everyone for making Dreams a very enjoyable yet fruitful overseas service-learning trip. i've learnt to appreciate punishments by leaders, learning how to look at things in different perspective. frankly speaking, when i heard that Lester was giving us 100 pumpings, i smiled, knowing that i've got a chance to build more muscles (: im not saying this in an insulting way, that i take punishments lightly, but more of, always look on the bright side of life ~~~~~
i've enjoyed all the disagreements, insults, annoyance, and stupidity of the Dreams team, cos it was actually all these that bonded us together. we wouldnt have achieved team spirit if not for setbacks we faced in co-operation, right?
mdm ng mentioned Dreams 5 to me last night after the campfire, and i would say that, it was truly a success, a project done to perfection (: damn, im so proud of all of us HAHHAHHAHAHA!!
on the other side of the agenda, i hope MF Guides Campfire 2007: Fashion District was good. all of you had better enjoyed it man! haha! 4 sec4s were running around like dogs, sweating like pigs, shouting like raving lunatics, hoping to run the show well, together with the help of our juniors. so it had better be good (:
and let me offcially declare us the proud ambassadors of the CUO BING JING XING QU aka HONGDOU you knw. cos we had the hongdou performance again ystd! how fun eh! 8 guides and scouts sportingly paired up to do the couple part perfectly. oh yea, speaking of scouts, thanks alot for the help offered, together with your poles, ropes, lightings, and energy, hahhaha! we would have died without your help man.
to end this off, i've lived a fulfilled 16th year old knowing that i've done things that i've never done before. what an experience (: and i wanted to say smth, but i forgotten what. and i hate it. aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ....

Hi dere! It's been ages since I last blog.. DREAMS 5.. Dere's so much to say yet so little.. As I blog, the song on this blog kept ringing thru my mind.. "As we go on. We remember. All the times we, Had together. And as our lives change, Come whatever. We will still be, Friends Forever." (go to my blog if u wan the full lyrics..) So many promises we've made to each other; patrol members to leaders, member to member, leaders to members, leader to leader.. So many exchanges in thoughts & knowledge.. Hw could I ever forget all the kindness tat I've been showered wif thru/out this trip?! Alan & Lester always asking me to drink more water in case I fell ill; Mr Gana's jokes; Kin Peng's advice every now & den; Knowledge exchange wif Lionel & Frederick (had learnt more types of leadership thru this 9 days journey.. All the crap wif Frederick & became a portable radio to keep myself awake.. Sry Frederick.. :p); Saw the improvement in the participants (esp my patrol Morrigan.. The tears, heartache, disppointment we've shed & experienced together only made the final success sweeter & our bonds tighter.. I've seen my kids (LianYi, Dennis, Bryan & MingXuan) grow wif every passing seconds, to be a better person wif more self discipline.. The bond we've forged within the patrol is strong wif every frustration & forgiveness.. I wouldn't speak for other participants bt for my kids their 'software' had been upgraded over the past months..) What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all leaders for their tolerance & forgiveness towards me thru/out this journey.. I'll improve on my weakness.. Being a guide-trained person, I've been trained to look into all the nitty gritty issues.. However, I know being a leader, I've to look at the bigger picture (which means no time & energy to look into the minor details le..) This is something I've to work on.. More respect for my fellow colleagues (in terms of words).. Less crap, more firm.. All in all, I've felt myself grown over the past mths, wkin wif the leaders & participants..

Bryan, what you say, is exactly what most of us feel.
Sure, down there, most of us were physically drained(to the point where we were too dead asleep to notice the huge downpour at night) but if you guys really think about it, more to the point, when was the last time anyone of us had a good rest or spend a huge amount of time in the sun? But at the end of the all, all of us, I hope, came back with our bucket at least half full.
The environment at PBP forced us to bring out the sides that we wanted to hide and to be brave and try out stuff we used to think were downright crazy (anyone agree with me?) like speaking bahasa Indonesia like 80% of the time which I admit I had never done before or crawling out of our shells and speaking out.
What we experienced, I feel, that no matter how many people we tell, they wouldn’t know the exact feeling, at best, they will only have an idea of it because you had to be there to feel it. The warmth, the kindness, the lame jokes that lightens the tensest moments and the passion. We were living the moments (sitting in the becak on the way back to the school on the 8th day, sotong fishing, imparting our knowledge to the students there and the creating of inside jokes which we have quite a few of), it was just that we didn’t realize it. Let the assembly talk be an inspiration for dreams 6.
If anyone were to ask us to go back there for another 9 days,
Many of us will say yes in nano-second I believe because of the plain truth that we don’t want to get back to the ugly reality of life like school.
Sorry if I offend anyone of u guys.

'Cause in PBP, you are more of leading a physically challanged life. Mentally challanged? Only that one bit. Meaning that if you have a strong will power and have good attitude towards life, you will not break down there. Of course unless its medical related...

But unfortunately in Singapore, you undergo alot alot of stress and so no matter how physically fit you are, it does not help. (Well it does actually...But not that much...) Coming to the topic of medical standards, Singapore is I don't know how many times better than there. But can it provide you a happy and simple life?

Let's see... If anyone thinks I'm talking crap or disagree with me so far... Do inform me so I can edit this or something... :)

Well any patriotic Singaporeans here? I hope not. But please... don't mistake me as some kind of rebel, and I hope you guys would not be offended by what I'm about to say... (This includes any government inter-nationally whether from Singapore or not)

Sadly to say, I must say MOST, not all, Singaporeans strive and work very hard... to get into a good school... to get a good certificate...to get a good job...to get lots and lots of money...to spend it luxiriously...and to NOT live life to the fullest. No point working so hard just to get the money. Well I believe there are some worst ones who don't even spend their money... Is this where and when materialism rules?

But of course I'm very very glad... That now most Singaporeans think the other way round. (Meaning what I just mentioned is the trend a few years back...) And... if you noticed... This is where the project series DREAMS come in... You and I are one of the lucky few who experienced simple yet happy life, who used one of our hands to help others and learnt how to protect ourselves with the other hand, who lived life meaningfully...

ALL HAIL TO DREAMS 5!!! BANZAI!!!

I think the dreams5 expedition was a success.Everyone give yourself a pat on the back!From it i have learnt many things including treasuring what is given to us.
the homestay allowed me to learn about how the people there have to cope with such living conditions.i am happy to share the experience with them for a night.
i hope that through the skills we have taught the students there.they will lead a better life.i will also try my best to apply what i have from this expedition in my life.
i certainly look forward to more upcoming dreams expeditions.

9 Days...GONE! ='(

How come when I just got adapted in the last few days, the trip/expedition is over?
How come when I just got adapted to the once annoying now cute kids I have to be seperated?
How come in the 1st few days I want to go back to Singapore and yet now I want to go back to PBP?

???WHY??? ???WHY??? ???WHY???

And as I am reading this blog, the freaking music is really making me start to cry. Well I can conclude something though... Auld Lang Syne & Friends Forever is one hell of a freaky sad song...

Making friends are all part of life... NOT seperation. Not in MY life anyway. (This is sooooo self-denying)

Well I hope we Dreamers will meet up again someday, not for work, but fun. How much work have we put in since April? How much sweat and blood shed? Time for some kind of happy ending. Post-expedition activities better be relaxing.

In the event of the closure of DREAMS, (which is unlikely... I hope...) I hope all of us would keep in touch with each other, especially we coordinators who have the numbers of everyone.

Alright...the end... Let's all look foward to... umm... err... I also don't know what. Fine, let's juz all look foward to Dennis in sucessfully progressing to become a MF Rover. Wish you luck Dennis...

The expedition is finally over. It had been a tough 9 days but fun and the memories that we created are unforgettable. Haha. Random stuff, my friends though when I got tortured there when I was out when them today.

what do you mean, less than nothing? i don't think there is any such thing as less than nothing. nothing is absolutely the limit of nothingness. it's the lowest you can go. it's the end of the line. how can something be less than nothing? if there was something less than nothing, then nothing would not be nothing, it would be something - even though it's just a very little bit of something. but if nothing is nothing, then nothing has nothing that is less than it is.

COUNTDOWN: 1 more day till DREAMS 5!!!

After 3 months of preparation, it’s finally here! =D =D =D
Camp was fun and a little tiring, definitely a good camp! =D. I also managed to get some good ideas for my future guides camp. I had the best breakfast (never had roti prata for breakfast in camp before), thanx lester!!!

Being a facilitator is definitely a lot tiring than the participants, I totally agree with that =D.
DREAMS 5 is only a few days away, it brings a lot of mixed feelings, somehow, there is a part of me where I want to put everything we planned into action yet another part wants to drag the planning part. Because finally putting everything we plan into action means that everyone will more or less split after the 9 days are over and everything will more or less return to our daily routine of school and studying. After the 9 days are over, there won’t be the Saturday meetings (quite taxing but okay at times la) and the rest of the stuff. There will be only memories left(playing like a film without sound) and it’s quite sad la cos during these 3 months, there had been a lot of hard work but also laughter and fun, not to forget passion. I guess everyone had more or less been fueled by passion for the project if not we would not had lasted this long.
This project had given us soo much whether in learning or in anything else , maybe next time you guys may see a few out of the 12 of us coming back for DREAMS 6. =D

Who knows, only time will tell. ;)

Its good to see that most of you participated actively during the camp. This gives me a very good ground to assess each one of you. I must say some of you have showed great calibre and leadership abilities. While others have talents and personality that keeps the team alive.

I would like each one to take a moment and think if you have offended or made anyone unhappy (intentionally or unintentionally) during the camp. Then think if you had taken the first step to patch things up. For those who got offended, did you flare up and initiate a confrontation.

During the 9 days, someone is bound to make someone else unhappy, angry, upset, etc. Its really up to you guys to work things out otherwise it will be an awfully difficult 9 days.

As for what Andreas mentioned.."camp facilitator is more tiring than participants..". Welcome to the world of leaders. When I was younger, I always thought that being leader was really easy..just stand around and give some instructions, shout alittle, punish the clowns and thats it. Its only after you become a committed one then you realise that it isnt not the case - I shall not elaborate more but when you the participants become one you would know :-)

But thankfully, Alan, Yew Choon and myself can relax alittle during this camp because Lionel, Fred and Andreas ran the show well. Just so everyone know..Lionel is having his exam this week since Monday. Yet he stayed with us throughout the camp (less some hours where he hid in one corner to study). This is the kind of commitment your leaders are putting in to make this project happen. There are many other great efforts put in by the rest of the leaders but I will leave it to the project closure for mass praising :-)

For now, get prepared for the trip....

The camp was taxing as usual (I had been to Venture Training Camp by Shadow Scouts when I was in my sec3 yr, nw this batch of scout leaders/rovers were transfered from Shadow to MF Scout Group) bt very fun.. Project director, Lester, is a very encouraging (strict @ times) & inspirational leader.. Learnt alot from him.. Alan, always pop in to gif us advices in between.. Lionel & Frederick are very capable leaders too.. I almost dropped my spec when Fred was conducting the debrief on Day 1.. Very professional.. Lionel, on the other hand, is a more fierce (no nonsense) leader.. Very gd @ sports.. Can run very fast.. Haha.. I tink I freak Fred out when I was bubbling & laughing non-stop @ 2am in the morning while cutting the ppr wif him.. Too tired, can't be helped.. We agreed that being a camp facilitator is more tiring than being participants.. The participants are quite 'cute' in the sense that sometimes things tat they say/do really made us dunno wanna laugh or wanna cry.. Dovin so 'gu niang'.. Chin How so easily irritated, loud-spoken, presentation skills improved.. Wilfred, I made him picked up the rice grain from the sink when he said he nv do it @ hm.. Lianyi, very familar wif the Home Ed rm.. Putri, always smiling.. Adel, so confident.. Dennis, impressed wif his guitar skills.. YiKai, so lame @ times.. Siong Hui, so quiet.. Ying Jie, sometimes gif weird ideas.. Bryan, the Gatsby boy (irritates us wif tat song).. Ming Xuan, always irritates Chin How..

Hello all!

Here I am blogging while the others are out for lunch. So sad. With Chin How and Ying Jie eating macdonalds right infront of me. Haiz.. They didn't even offer me some fries until I asked them. So sad.. So sad.. Maybe there is something wrong with me leadership. Fine lor!

Let's see, so we are supposed to do a reflection. Hmmm...

Many weeks have passed, and it coming closer to the expedition date already. We have held several meetings already. And definitely hope that work is done so that we wouldn't panic if we found out we have undone work over at PBP. Even though the team members are quite young but they actually shown us the fact that they can do work that is given to them. Its good to know that your juniors are actually able to do work. Well, I've never really done much of this kind of planning work when I was a sec 1. So this is a good experience for them for sure.

With a bunch of capable leaders behind the team's back. I'm sure the project will go through well. About yesterday's car wash, I'm not really pleased with the performance. Don't mind me repeating again. I think I express better this way. I think you guys can definitely do much better when it comes to persuading the teachers to buy the coupons. It's just the effort and determination to sell the coupons that is lacking in most of you. When I said take things positively, I meant to not take every job given to you as a chore, but to take the job positively and try to figure out the beneficial side of completing the job, like learning some skills from it.

Hahaha. Long winded eh...?

Ok. Enough of blogging.

The meeting last saturday was cool okay... I don't exactly know what to say... But, out of the 3 meetings(right?)I must say this is the best!(I'm lying, it's second best)(Hey...at least I'm honest okae...) OK. Back to proper stuffs now. Hold on... Come to think of it, maybe it's because Lester Sir treated us to chips. Hmm...Well Sir, if you're reading this, you should know what t do. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Trust me, it benefits everyone; the company, and so economic growth of Singapore. Furthermore, you would gain more respect then the rest. So are you convinced now? NO? OK more to come. Even the countries outside Singapore benefits in a way that, if we consume more chips, they would export more poataoes. BUT, if w don't consume enough chips, we would not have enough carbohydrates and sodium and MSG and... AND the second great depression would befalls on us, ALL... So what happens next? Aliens would see the unstability of the Earth and will thus decide to conquer us. Morale of the story? Econmic Defence don't apply only for Singapore but the WHOLE BIG WIDE ENDLESS WORLD. Not only Econmic Defence, ALL the five aspects of Total Defence too... You must be convinced now... Alright alright, I know ths is getting out point but THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!

i was jz reading this book called THE RULES OF LIFE this morning, when i got reminded of our dreams5 expedition. it was pretty interesting, and it's actually what i would call, reflection (:
the particualar chapter i was reading was about getting used to stepping outside our comfort zones. we all have a comfort zone where we all feel safe and warm and dry. if we get too attached to our comfort zone, chances are it will either start to shrink, or smth will come along and dismantle it. therefore, we need to step outside our comfort zones and be challenged, be frightened, be stimulated. this is how we stay young and feel good about ourselves.
expanding our comfort zones gives us extra confidence. we dont have to do some bungee-jumping jz to test our comfort zones. it can be as easy as volunteering for smth that we've never done before and feeling nervous about it. maybe it would involve joining smth. taking the challenge of expanding our comfort zones brings us out of ourselves and keeps us learning and growing. we cant grow mould if we're growing experiences, can we?

This is a pretty scary experience..my first time "blogging" -- I can see Lionel laughing away at me.

Happened to read this and thought I should share it with you ie. What is Reflections when it comes to learning.

The term "reflection" is derived from the Latin term reflectere -- meaning "to bend back." A mirror does precisely this, bend back the light, making visible what is apparent to others, but a mystery to us -- namely, what our faces look like.

In service learning, we look to develop processes that allow the people doing service to bend the metaphorical light of their experiences back onto their minds -- to make careful considerations about what their experience were all about: what did they see, who did they meet, why is there a need for such services in the first place, etc. The act of reflection, therefore, becomes crucial to our education. It serves as the bridge between experiences and learning.

So here is my question for you...
So far, we stressed on why you (from the learning angle) should attend Dreams 5 and all the useful experiences that you will hopefully gain (I use the word 'hopefully' because this is a big topic and I will reserve it for future). Now from a service angle, why is there a NEED for us to go Pulau Belakang Padang and do all that we are doing and planning? This is not a test and there is no right/wrong...so dont have to worry too much here just would like to hear your views.
